Series: Towson leads 8-5

Visiting Johns Hopkins got off to a fast start as Zack Baker completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Luke McFadden on the opening play and the Blue Jays

What's at stake: Towson lost its Colonial Athletic Association opener last week and doesn't want a repeat of 2016, when it dropped five straight league games before winning. Trouble is, the Tigers will play again without Shane Simpson, their No. 1 running back, who's out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury. Villanova, though .500, ranks No. 14 in the STATS FCS Poll and No. 17 in the Coaches' Poll.

Key matchup: Can Towson stop quarterback Zach Bednarczyk? In two games against the Tigers, Bednarczyk has passed for 475 yards and five touchdowns, three of them in last year's 40-21 Villanova victory.

Player to watch: Rob Rolle, the Wildcats' defensive back who returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown against Towson last year.
