For the third time this season, Towson redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Stover was named CAA Football Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Stover threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers in the Tigers’ 29-10 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.
He had one of his best performances of the season as he became the first Towson quarterback to throw for four touchdowns in a game since Grant Enders on Nov. 10, 2012, also against Rhode Island. Stover’s touchdown passes went for 33, 21, 13 and 2 yards.
Stover finished the game completing 18-of-31 passes for 218 yards. He also rushed for 36 yards on six carries.
For the season, Stover was 189 of 341 for 2,001 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 335 yards and two touchdowns.
It was the second straight week a Towson player was named CAA Rookie of the Week. Defensive back Coby Tippett earned last week’s honor.
