Series: Towson leads 5-0

What's at stake: Towson has a shutout (a 10-0 win over Morgan State) and a blowout (a 63-17 loss at Maryland) on its ledger. So just where do the Tigers stand? "Somewhere in the middle," coach Rob Ambrose surmised this week, preparing for Saint Francis, the last nonconference tuneup for Towson before it starts Colonial Athletic Association play. The Tigers have never lost to the Red Flash of the Northeast Conference, though it took a furious second-half rally last year to win, 35-28.

Key matchup: Quarterback Bear Fenimore has led Saint Francis to laughers over Lock Haven (69-3) and Wagner (31-6). A graduate student transfer from Houston, Fenimore has passed for 573 yards and six touchdowns, with a QB rating of 175.70. Can Towson's defense, shredded by Maryland, bounce back?

Player to watch: Towson quarterback Ryan Stover, should the freshman start his second game in place of veteran Morgan Mahalak (upper body injury). Stover impressed against the Terps, passing for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
