Three Towson football players earned Colonial Athletic Association honors. Kick returner Rodney Dorsey and defensive lineman Kanyia Anderson were selected to the second team, and kicker Aidan O'Neill was named to the third team.
Women's college basketball: Coppin State's Maraiyah Smith (Owings Mills) has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Smith averaged 7.3 points along with 2.3 rebounds while shooting 45 percent from the field as the Eagles went 1-2. ... Gabby Winsky (Severn) will serve as one of the four captains for Washington College this season.
Men's college swimming: Loyola Maryland senior Ben Cono was named the Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week, earning the honor for the second time this year after swimming a season-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke. Cono earned an NCAA "B" Qualifying Standard in the event Saturday, touching the wall in 53.59 seconds for the 16th-best time in the nation.
Women's college lacrosse: Malaina Dunn (Mount de Sales) was among a group of 11 Delaware recruits announced for the 2018-19 academic year. ... Navy coach Cindy Timchal was inducted into the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Varsity boys basketball: Cameron Shaw had 21 points and Dubem Nnake had 11 points to lead visiting Loyola Blakefield to a 79-58 victory over St. Mary's. Loyola (2-0) took a nine-point lead over the Saints (0-1) in the first quarter and 40-23 at the half. The Dons made 11 3-pointers.
Women's pro soccer: Washington Spirit assistant coach Denise Reddy has accepted a position as head coach of Sky Blue FC. Reddy spent the past two seasons with the Spirit and helped the team reach the 2016 NWSL championship game in her first year.
Golf: Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation will host its 22nd annual Turkey Shoot outings Thanksgiving morning. Golf outings will be held at Pine Ridge, Mount Pleasant, Forest Park and Clifton Park golf courses, while a FootGolf outing will be held at the Craig Willinger Memorial FootGolf Course at Carroll Park. The Turkey Shoot outings will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The registration fee for Turkey Shoot golf outings, including breakfast, greens cart fees and prizes, is $60 at Pine Ridge, $48 at Mount Pleasant, $40 at Forest Park and $60 at Clifton Park.
