Under-the-radar college football games to watch this weekend

Friday, 9 p.m., Fox Sports 1 Spread: Utah by 3 The Max Browne era at USC is over just three games into the season as the Trojans announced Monday that redshirt freshman Sam Darnold will start at quarterback. Browne struggled in losses to Alabama and Stanford, completing just 56.1 percent of his passes for just 292 yards and an interception, but he might be catching a break as Darnold, No. 115 in the 2015 ESPN 300, will face a defense that ranks 12th in Bill Connelly’s S&P+ rankings, has allowed just 4.19 yards per play and is second nationally with 15 sacks. A freshman making his first start against a strong defense on the road is usually a recipe for a blowout, but USC has JuJu Smith-Schuster, one of the best wide receivers in the nation, and explosive return man Adoree Jackson. The Utes are the better team, but the Trojans have the better players, which makes for an interesting matchup.
