CAA Football announced its award winners for the opening week of the 2016 season and Towson punter Jake Ryder earned the special teams honor this morning.
Ryder, a senior from Olney, averaged 49.4 yards on seven punts in the Tigers' 56-20 loss to South Florida Saturday night.
The Sherwood High product connected on a 68-yard punt that settled inside the 5-yard line. He also had punts of 61 and 50 yards against the Bulls.
Three of his punts were inside the 20-yard line.
Also earning honors were Richmond junior quarterback Kyle Lauletta (offensive player), Stony Brook senior defensive back Jaheem Woods (defensive player) and William & Mary redshirt freshman defensive back Corey Parker (rookie).
The Tigers play their home opener Saturday against St. Francis at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
