An All-Big Ten Conference first team pick his junior season, Countess appeared in 38 games for the Wolverines, starting 30 of them. He still has a year of eligibility remaining, as he redshirted his sophomore year after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the season opener.

Countess is likely to step in to a starting role immediately for the Tigers and their first-year defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp.
