Navy football gets a day off from class after upset of No. 6 Houston

Navy football coach Ken Niumatalolo discusses the Midshipmen's huge win over the Houston Cougars.

As a reward for its huge win against No. 6 Houston on Saturday, the Navy football team got what any group of college students would enjoy: a day off.

With the 46-40 win in Annapolis, the Midshipmen earned their first win over a top-10 Associated Press team since 1984. Then the 13th straight home win got a bit sweeter.

Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Admiral Walter E. "Ted" Carter Jr. gave the Midshipmen an additional day off after the Columbus Day holiday to enjoy the victory. Classes were already closed Monday. Now the Mids have Tuesday off as well.

The academy's Facebook post of the news had a few thousand likes and hundreds of shares as of Sunday.

The rest of Annapolis was apparently well aware of the win, too.
