Morgan State football's Lee Hull said Robert Council is still starting QB

Morgan State coach Lee Hull said Tuesday that redshirt senior quarterback Robert Council "will be a game-time decision" for Saturday's game on the road against North Carolina A&T.

In his weekly conference call arranged by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Hull said Council would line up under center once he can overcome "some nagging injuries" that have kept him out of the Bears' last two games.

"If Robert's healthy and he gives us the best opportunity to win the game, Robert will be in the game," Hull said. "It will be a game-time decision. We'll see how he does this week."

Council has thrown for 791 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed 104 times for 508 yards and six scores in seven starts this season for the Bears (5-4 overall, 4-1 MEAC). But he is averaging just 113.0 passing yards and has completed only 44.6 percent (58 of 130) of his throws.

Redshirt junior Moses Skillon -- who started the last two games, including Saturday's 38-35 win at Hampton -- has completed 58.7 percent (44 of 75) of his passes for 456 yards and two touchdowns. Skillon has carried the ball 26 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns.

Hull conceded that Skillon's ability as a passer makes the offense more multiple.

"Obviously, it makes any offense more dangerous when you have a guy that can throw the ball," Hull said. "Obviously, everyone knows we have a pretty good run game with [running back Herb Walker Jr.]. But when you have a quarterback that can also throw the ball, that makes any offense more dangerous."

But Hull, who has publicly backed Council since the season began, said only prolonged injury would keep Council from reclaiming the starting job.

"Nothing has changed," Hull said.
