Heading into training camp, which begins today, Morgan State released its first depth chart of the preseason with several notes of interest.Sophomore Khalil Trotman is listed atop the quarterback position. Neither Trotman nor freshman Deandre Harris nor graduate transfer Chris Andrews have taken a snap under center for the Bears in a regular-season game, but the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Trotman would appear to have the first shot at succeeding 2015 starter Moses Skillon (50.5 completion percentage for 1,616 yards and seven touchdowns, and 86 rushes for 420 yards and five scores).Senior Ricky Fisk, the team's second-leading receiver in catches (29) and yards (323), is listed as the backup to redshirt sophomore Landen Malbrough (16 receptions for 231 yards and one touchdown) at the X position. Senior running back Herb Walker Jr. is ranked second after sitting out last year due to academic ineligibility. The 5-8, 180-pound tailback – who rushed for a school-record 1,408 yards and 15 total touchdowns (13 rushing) in 2014 – and redshirt senior Lamont Brown III (back-to-back torn anterior cruciate ligaments) are backing up senior Orlando Johnson (143 carries for 583 yards and six touchdowns).Other highlights include:**Four of five offensive linemen who started every game last fall – junior left tackle Joshua Miles, senior left guard Dominique Woods, sophomore center Cooper Clarkin and junior right tackle E.J. Ubuane – are back. Woods played center, while Clarkin was the left guard. Junior Matt Thompson (Perry Hall), who missed last season for the same reason that Walker did, returns to right guard, moving sophomore Adrien Allen – who started all 10 contests at that spot – to backup center.**Malbrough is joined by senior Thomas Martin and redshirt junior Amonta Poteat (five catches for 45 yards) as the starting wide receivers. Martin sat out last season due to academic ineligibility.**Junior nose tackle Jai Franklin (38 tackles and three sacks) is the only returning starter from the defensive front in the unit's 3-4 scheme. Juniors Ayodeji Agbelese (13 tackles and one sack) and George Ramos are listed as the starting defensive ends for Andrew Mitchell (27 tackles and 3½ sacks) and junior Dalonte Jenifer (39 tackles and 4½ sacks).**Junior Damare Whitaker (66 tackles and 2½ sacks) has moved from outside linebacker to inside linebacker, where he is poised to start alongside senior Greg Gibson (50 tackles and two sacks). Sophomore Malachi Washington (13 tackles and two sacks) and redshirt sophomore Brandon Griffin (four tackles) are penciled in as the starting outside linebackers.**Sophomore Carl Garnes is listed as the top candidate to start at strong safety. Redshirt junior Cravon Rogers (35 tackles and 10 pass breakups) started all 100 games at strong safety, but will move to free safety to succeed Peterson Janvier (52 tackles, seven breakups and one interception). Seniors Delonte Hall (32 tackles and 10 breakups) and Deadrick Jones (34 tackles and two breakups) are slated to start at cornerback.**Sophomore Alex Raya is listed as the starting kicker and punter. Raya, who has never kicked for Morgan State, would replace Chris Moller, who converted 48.9 percent (22-of-45) of field goals and 95.0 percent (96-of-101) of extra points in his career. The depth chart is an early guide to the Bears' lineup, and injuries and performance could change the chart's makeup before they open the season on Sept. 3 against Holy Cross at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore. But it does provide a look into the coaching staff's perspective.
