Lane caught nine passes for 152 yards and one touchdown as a junior, making three starts in 11 games. The former Catonsville star is expected to have a bigger role at slot receiver in first-year offensive coordinator Walt Bell’s offense. (Patrick Semansky / Associated Press)
Followers of Baltimore-area football will have plenty of players to track during the 2016 season.
At least 109 players from The Sun's coverage area — Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties — are listed on Football Bowl Subdivision rosters. This includes players who grew up in this area and went to high school elsewhere and players from other areas who came here to attend high school.
Maryland has 25 players from the Baltimore area on its roster -- by far the most of any college program. Penn State and West Virginia are next with five players apiece. Navy has four local players, while Army, New Mexico, Temple and Toledo have three each.
For local high schools, Gilman leads the way with 13 former Greyhounds on FBS rosters. McDonogh is not far behind with eight players. Calvert Hall, Dunbar and Franklin count six alums apiece as FBS players.
See the chart below for a sortable list of every player.
