Maryland Football: Four-star DT Cam Spence commits to Terps

Four-star defensive tackle Cam Spence announced his verbal commitment to Maryland on Friday morning during a broadcast on Periscope.

Spence, who is a rising senior at IMG Academy (Fla.) and a transfer from Gilman, picked Maryland over a top 10 power such as Alabama, Ohio State, Texas and Southern California.

Spence is a consensus four-star recruit among the four major recruiting services. In the 247sports.com composite rankings, he's the No. 12 defensive tackle and the No. 190 player in the nation.

Spence is the first domino in what could be a major recruiting weekend for coach DJ Durkin and the Terps. Four-star St. John's (D.C.) quarterback Kasim Hill, another Gilman transfer, and three-star Good Counsel linebacker Ayinde Eley are scheduled to make their verbal commitments on Saturday afternoon, and there's a good chance that one or both could pick the Terps.
