Top-ranked Maryland captured its 20th consecutive victory while coasting to a 17-8 win against visiting No. 10 James Madison on Saturday.

Maryland (10-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) was led by Laura Merrifield, who totaled four goals, including a hat trick in the first half.

The Terps led by as much as 11 in the second half but did surrender three late scores to the Dukes (6-2) with less than five minutes remaining to stop the clock from running.

Johns Hopkins 11, George Washington 10: Taylor D'Amore scored what proved to be the game-winner on a free-position shot with 4:06 left in the game, and the host Blue Jays (6-3) held on.

The Colonials (3-7) closed out the game on a 3-0 run, with Mia Breheny scoring her second goal with 56 seconds left for the final score.

Breheny gave George Washington a 1-0 lead before Hopkins reeled off three straight.

UMBC 10, New Hampshire 8: Three Retrievers notched hat tricks as host UMBC (7-3, 1-0 America East) beat the Wildcats (5-4, 0-1 America East) in the conference opener for both teams.

The Wildcats led, 3-2, after 10:35, but a free-position goal by Erika Braerman (Fallston) with 16:51 to play in the half sparked a 5-0 UMBC run that lasted more than eight minutes and gave the Retrievers a 7-3 lead.
