Ex-Arundel star Billy Cosh transfers from Kansas State

Former Arundel quarterback Billy Cosh, the all-time leading passer in Maryland high school history, has left Kansas State.

Cosh, who enrolled at KSU last January and redshirted his freshman season, plans to enroll at James Madison.

"I'm pleased that Billy will have the opportunity to get on the field quickly in a program that features the passing game," Kansas State coach Bill Snyder said in a news release. "Billy is obviously a dear friend and a great young man. He loved Manhattan and our program and players but simply felt by transferring he could gain more immediate playing time."

Cosh is the son of Wildcats defensive coordinator Chris Cosh, who held the same position at Maryland before moving to Manhattan, Kan., in 2009.

As a high school senior, Billy Cosh led Arundel to the Anne Arundel County title and the Class 4A East regional final. He went 292-for-448 for 3,913 yards and 56 touchdowns -- all season state records. Cosh also set state records for career attempts (909), completions (594), passing yards (7,433) and touchdowns (112).

Because Cosh is transferring down a level from Kansas State to James Madison -- a Football Championship Subdivision school in Harrisonburg, Va. -- he will not have to sit out a year because of his transfer.
