Morgan State trailed 9-7 with 12:34 left in the first half after Western Illinois' David Gebru scored, but the Bears responded with a 20-1 run and held a 15-point lead by halftime. Thompson, who also had eight rebounds, saw his three-game streak of double doubles end.

George Mason 54, UMBC 38: The host Patriots (2-2) forced 21 turnovers and scored 24 points in the paint against the Retrievers (1-4).
Cincinnati 67, Mount St. Mary's 47: Freshmen Jessie Kaufman and Kelly Guerriero each had a career-high nine points for the Mount (1-3) in the loss.
