All nine Division I men's basketball programs are ready for action this weekend.
On Friday night, Towson opens its season with a road game against Miami (Ohio) at 6 p.m. The Tigers began their 2009-10 season with an 82-71 win over the RedHawks. At 8 p.m., Loyola welcomes Drexel to Reitz Arena for a nonconference matchup.
In Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action, UMES heads to Tulane at 7 p.m., Friday night, and Coppin State travels to Norman, Okla., for an 8 p.m. date with former Owings Mills power forward Andrew Fitzgerald and the Sooners. To close out the night, Morgan State — fresh off its second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance — begins its season with a trip to Los Angeles, where the Bears will take on Loyola Marymount.
Navy, which suffered an 83-52 loss to Texas in Austin on Monday, heads to upstate New York on Saturday to take on Buffalo at 12 p.m. At 2 p.m., Mount St. Mary's opens its 2010-11 campaign with a road game against Dayton. It will be the Mountaineers debut for coach Robert Burke.
On Sunday, Maryland looks to move to 3-0 on the season with a 2 p.m. game against Maine at Comcast Center. The Terps beat Seattle University, 105-76, on Monday and edged College of Charleston, 75-74, Wednesday. At 3 p.m., UMBC — which suffered through a 4-26 season last year — hosts Virginia Military Institute.
