It's safe to say Delonte "Smoke" Williams has settled into his new role with the Bears.
Morgan's new quarterback ran three touchdowns and scored on a two-point conversion, leading his team to a conference win over the Aggies in front of a homecoming crowd of 21,500 at Aggies Stadium.
The three-touchdown mark by Williams was the most for Morgan State (3-3, 2-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) since former standout Chad Simpson ran for three touchdowns against Savannah State in 2007.
"I think I did pretty good today," Williams said. "I feel that the coaching staff did a good job preparing me, and as a result it felt kind of easy out there for me."
The rookie quarterback finished the game 7-for-12 for 100 yards, and his only glaring mistake was an interception he threw early in the third quarter.
Bowie State 16, St. Paul's 10: Tariq Jones scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in overtime to lift the Bulldogs to a 16-10 victory over St. Paul's in the Western Virginia Education Classic on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (3-4) trailed 10-0 at halftime and tied the game in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard pass from Clifton Budd to Douglas McNeil with 41 seconds remaining, completing a 50-yard drive.
Clifton passed for 196 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs, and Jones rushed for 47 yards on 16 carries.
McDaniel 35, Susquehanna 0: Thomas Massucci threw four touchdown passes for the Green Terror (4-1) against the visiting Crusaders (1-5), and Matt Cahill caught three of them.
Matt Emerson recovered a blocked punt two minutes into the game, and McDaniel led, 28-0, at halftime.
Cahill caught four passes for 40 yards, and Massucci was 9-for-16 for 73 yards for the Green Terror.
McDaniel hosts Centennial Conference foe Muhlenberg (4-1) on Saturday.
