Sean DeLaney had a career-high five points and redshirt junior goalkeeper Chris Madalon matched his career high for saves with 13 as No. 3 North Carolina beat No. 19 UMBC, 12-7, on Saturday.
The Tar Heels remain unbeaten at 5-0 and the host Retrievers fell to 1-2.
UMBC fell behind 4-0 and was 2-for-8 in extra-man opportunities.
UMBC's Jamie Kimbles posted a career-best three goals and four points. Bobby Stockton contributed two goals and an assist, Kyle Wimer added three assists and Matt Latham (Liberty) scored a pair of goals.
UMBC bounced back after the early deficit with goals by Stockton and Kimbles to pull to 4-2 after one quarter. The two squads would exchange the next six scores, with Kimbles giving UMBC the momentum heading into halftime by converting a feed from Wimer on a man-up opportunity with 1:17 to play in the half cut the Retrievers' deficit to 7-5.
No. 12 Navy 8, No. 17 Bucknell 7, OT: Patrick Moran scored the game-winning goal, his third of the day, with 2:40 left in overtime to lift the host Midshipmen (3-2, 2-0 Patriot League) over the Bison (2-2, 0-1).
Navy stretched its 3-2 halftime lead by outscoring Bucknell 3-0 in the third quarter. The Bison came back with a 5-1 run in the fourth to force overtime.
Ryan Klipstein had three goals for Bucknell.
No. 13 Stony Brook 14, Towson 11: Will Harrington had five goals in a losing effort for the visiting Tigers (0-2).
Stony Brook's Jordan McBride scored a game-high six goals, including five in the first half. He also added an assist as the Seawolves (2-1) jumped out to a 9-4 halftime lead and held on for the win.
McBride has totaled 14 goals and three assists this season.
No. 9 Georgetown 9, St. John's 6: Andrew Brancaccio and Rickey Mirabito each had hat tricks to power the host Hoyas (2-1, 1-0 Big East) past the Red Storm (2-1, 0-1).
Women
Salisbury 16, Catholic 7: Aileen McCausland had five goals and an assist to power the host Sea Gulls (5-0) past the Cardinals (1-1).
Salisbury jumped out to a 4-1 lead with 15:48 left in the first half. Logan Bilderback had three goals for the Sea Gulls.
No. 4 North Carolina 11, No. 3 Pennsylvania 6: The host Tar Heels (6-0) outscored the Quakers (2-1) 5-1 and outshot them 15-3 in the second half to pull the upset.
Becky Lynch led North Carolina with a hat trick and Erin Brennan and Ali DeLuca each had two goals for Penn.
No. 1 Northwestern 15, No. 5 Georgetown 10: Katrina Dowd tallied a career-best eight points to lead the Wildcats (4-0) past the visiting Hoyas (1-1).
Northwestern improved its home winning streak to 55 games.
Dowd, the American Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scored five goals for Northwestern, including four in the second half .
She had three assists in addition to winning four draws, scooping up three ground balls and causing a pair of Hoya turnovers.
