Authorities charged nine Michigan State players with misdemeanor assault and conspiracy Wednesday following last month's dormitory brawl.

The players, all suspended by coach Mark Dantonio, face up to a one-year maximum sentence on the conspiracy charge, and up to 93 days on the other charges.

A Michigan State spokesman said the suspended players, which include starting DB Chris L. Rucker and receivers B.J. Cunningham and Mark Dell, are not allowed in the weight room, study areas or other parts of the football building and will not accompany the team to its Jan. 2 Alamo Bowl game against Texas Tech.
