The UMBC men’s basketball team will travel to face Penn State in a nonconference game Dec. 29, the programs announced Wednesday.

The game at the Nittany Lions’ Bryce Jordan Center will be the Retrievers’ last of 2018.

UMBC guard Jairus Lyles played in the Utah Jazz's summer league, hitting 3-pointers off the bench.

UMBC is coming off a historic America East Conference championship and NCAA tournament run, while Penn State is the defending National Invitation Tournament champion. Nittany Lions guard and leading scorer Tony Carr was taken No. 51 overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA draft last month.

The Retrievers also have announced nonconference games at Marquette (Nov. 6), against Manhattan (Nov. 12), against American (Nov. 24), at Northern Kentucky (Nov. 30), at Coppin State (Dec. 3), at Drexel (Dec. 8) and against Towson (Dec. 11).
