Phillip Carr had 25 points and eight rebounds Saturday night and Morgan State pulled away with a late run to beat host Bethune-Cookman, 69-63, in men's basketball.

The Bears (5-11, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) took the lead for good at 58-57 on Carr's jumper with 4:04 left. That sparked an 8-0 run, and Carr's 3-pointer with 1:21 left made it 64-57.


Reggie Baker made it 64-59 for the Wildcats on a layup with 54 seconds left, but the score got no closer.

Kyle Thomas added 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Martez Cameron scored 11 for Morgan State.

Baker had 18 points and Quinton Forrest added 15 for Bethune-Cookman (3-12, 0-2), which lost its fifth straight.

The Wildcats led early in the second half, but the Bears had a 14-2 run to lead 56-49.

Bethune-Cookman had only eight turnovers to Morgan State's 18 but was outrebounded 54-34 and made only three of 13 free throws.

Mount St. Mary's 77, Central Connecticut State 68: Miles Wilson scored 21 points with 8-for-12 shooting to lead the Mount (5-12, 3-1 Northeast Conference) past the Blue Devils (2-13, 0-4).

Chris Wray and Junior Robinson added 13 points apiece for Mount St. Mary's, which shot 51 percent from the field and controlled the boards 35-30.

The Mountaineers took the lead for good on Robinson's 3-pointer with 56 seconds left in the opening half, then got a free throw from Wray to take a 30-27 advantage into the break.

In the second half, Greg Alexander hit a 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 run that stretched the Mountaineers' lead to 49-36 with 14:14 to go, and they held off Central Connecticut State the rest of the way.

The Blue Devils cut the deficit to 60-54 on Khalen Cumberlander's layup with 4:42 to play before losing their 10th straight.

Cumberlander finished with a career-high 26 points.

Florida A&M 54, Coppin State 53: Derrick Dandridge made a layup with 0.4 of a second left and the host Rattlers (4-11, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) beat the Eagles (2-15, 1-1).

Marcus Barham scored 18 points and made five 3-pointers to lead Florida A&M, which has won consecutive games since ending a 10-game skid. Desmond Williams added 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Dandridge added seven points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. The Rattlers outrebounded Coppin State 40-31.

Barham's 3-pointer extended the Rattlers' lead to 52-48 with 2:03 to play. Coppin State regained the lead, 53-52 with 29.4 seconds left before Dandridge hit the game-winner.


Elon 72, Towson 61: A balanced attack helped the host Phoenix (9-8, 1-3 Colonial Athletic Association) beat the Tigers (8-9, 0-4).

Four players scored in double figures in the win. Elon used a 10-2 run late in the second half to separate from Towson.

Deshaun Morman scored 13 points, and John Davis added 11 points for the Tigers.

Steven Santa Ana led the Phoenix with a game-high 15 points on 4-for-9 shooting. Santa Ana hit three shots from beyond the arc after tying a school record with nine just two days before.

Dainan Swoope finished the game with 12 points and four steals.
