Tiwian Kendley and Phillip Carr combined to score 67 of Morgan State's 87 points as the host Bears beat Florida A&M, 87-68 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday.
The victory is Morgan State's 35th in the 59-game history of the series.
Carr hit a free throw, a layup, a 3-pointer and a dunk as the Bears (6-9, 2-0) opened a 20-5 lead over the first seven minutes of the game. Kendley hit a pair of 3s to help fuel the start.
Kendley matched his season high with 35 points on 10-of-24 shooting, including 4-for-13 from distance, and 11-for-13 from the foul line. Carr added a season-high 32 on 11-for-13 shooting, including 1-for-1 from deep, and 9-for-11 from the line while grabbing eight rebounds.
Marcus Barham led the Rattlers (2-16, 1-1) with 22 points and Desmond Williams added 16.
Mount St. Mary's 78, Central Connecticut State 51: Junior Robinson had five 3-pointers and 27 points to help the host Mount (8-9, 2-2 Northeast) beat the Blue Devils (8-9, 1-3).
Mount St. Mary's took control with a 16-2 run capped at 57-40 on Jonah Antonio's back-to-back 3-pointers near the midpoint of the second half. Shakaris Laney briefly stopped the run with a 3 that cut the deficit to 14 for Central Connecticut.
UMES 92, Hampton 83: Ahmad Frost made seven 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 33 points to help the host Hawks (5-12, 1-1 MEAC) beat the Pirates (5-11, 0-1).
Savannah State 80, Coppin State 71: Lamar Morgan had a game-high 26 points, but the host Eagles (0-17, 0-2 MEAC) fell to the Tigers (4-12, 1-0).
Vermont 71, UMBC 56: Payton Henson scored 14 points with a career-high 13 rebounds and the host Catamounts (11-5, 2-0 America East) beat the Retrievers (10-7, 1-1).
Morgan State 61, Florida A&M 56: Tykyrah Williams scored 18 points and the host Bears (9-6, 2-0 MEAC) won their third straight, beating the Rattlers (3-12, 1-1).
Coppin State 66, Savannah State 57: Chance Graham had 15 points and 19 rebounds to lead the host Eagles (2-12, 1-1 MEAC) past the Tigers (2-10, 0-1).
Hampton 70, UMES 65: The visiting Pirates (4-9, 1-0 MEAC) outscored the Hawks (3-11, 0-2), 29-22, in the fourth quarter to win.
Vermont 72, UMBC 58: Lakiah Sims had a team-high 17 points, but the host Retrievers (1-14, 0-2 America East) fell to the Catamounts (5-10, 2-0).
Sacred Heart 82, Mount St. Mary's 52: The visiting Pioneers (5-9, 1-2 Northeast Conference) opened with a 26-12 run in the first quarter and beat the Mount (5-9, 2-1).
