Kionna Jeter scored a game-high 30 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Towson to a 59-49 victory over host Delaware in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association women’s basketball tournament Thursday.
The Tigers (18-12) used a 24-9 run in the third quarter to take control and will face Hofstra, a 57-50 winner over James Madison, in Friday’s semifinal at 1 p.m.
Towson went on an 8-0 run over the final 53 seconds. The Blue Hens fell to 16-15.
It was a two-possession game for 33 of 40 minutes and a two-point game with 1:11 left to play. Delaware was unable to convert offensively in the final minute as the Tigers made their free-throws to seal the win.
Samone DeFreese had 15 points and freshmen Jasmine Dickey (Catonsville) had nine points for the Blue Hens.
Bethune-Cookman 55, Coppin State 49: Brooke Fields (Institute of Notre Dame) scored 19 points, including going eight-for-eight from the free-throw line, but the Eagles (5-25) fell to the Wildcats (19-10) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference quarterfinal at the Scope in Norfolk, Va.
Bethune-Cookman used a 18-4 run in the second quarter to pull ahead. The Wildcats outrebounded Coppin State, 52-42, and leads the series 32-30. Jalynda Salley had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
Robert Morris 69, Mount St. Mary’s 65: The visiting Mount (15-16) put together a 26-18 rally in the fourth quarter that came up short against the Colonials (21-10) in a Northeast Conference semifinal. Juliette Lawless had 18 points and Michaela had 14 points for Mount St. Mary’s.
North Carolina A&T 82, Coppin State 79, OT: Ronald Jackson had 21 points and 14 rebounds as the Aggies (19-12) edged past the Eagles (8-25) in overtime in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Conference Tournament on Wednesday night at the Scope in Norfolk, Va.
Quavius Copeland had 14 points for NC A&T. Terry Harris added 14 points. Kameron Langley had 10 points and 12 assists for NC A&T.
Milik Gantz, the Aggies' second leading scorer heading into the contest at 9.0 points per game, shot only 8 percent in the game (1 of 12).
Lamar Morgan had 17 points for the Eagles. Kent Auslander added 16 points and seven rebounds. Dejuan Clayton had 16 points and nine assists.
