Former Towson forward Justin Gorham (Calvert Hall) transfers to Houston

Former Calvert Hall and Towson men’s basketball forward Justin Gorham will transfer to Houston, he announced Tuesday.

The Baltimore native started just nine games for the Tigers last season but finished third on the team in scoring and led them in rebounding. He and star sophomore guard Zane Martin announced their departures last month.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Gorham, who did not enter Towson’s starting lineup until February, nearly averaged double-figure scoring (9.6 points per game) and ranked 10th in the Colonial Athletic Association in rebounding (6.6 per game). He will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2018-19 season under NCAA transfer rules.

Under coach Kelvin Sampson, Houston has won at least 21 games and made a postseason tournament each of the past three years. Last season, the Cougars went 27-8 and were a Michigan buzzer-beating 3-pointer away from taking down the NCAA tournament's runner-up in the second round.
