Digest (Jan. 9): Morgan State's Kendley, Carr earn MEAC men's basketball honors honors

Morgan State's Tiwian Kendley has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Phillip Carr was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Kendley averaged 32 points, six rebounds, three assists and 1.7 steals as the Bears went 3-0 to open MEAC play. Carr was the second-leading rebounder in the conference after the first week of action with 10.7 boards per game. ... Mount St. Mary's senior guard Junior Robinson was named Player of the Week and freshman guard Jonah Antonio Co-Rookie of the Week by the Northeast Conference.

Women's college basketball: Coppin State's Genesis Lucas was named the MEAC Player of the Week, and Chance Graham shared Defensive Player of the Week honors.

College track and field: Navy junior Demetrius Lanier was selected as the Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week, while sophomore teammate Grace West was selected as the Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week. Navy junior Jahna Alleyne earned the Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week and freshman teammate Eric Hughey earned the Male Rookie of the Week.

Major League Soccer: D.C. United have received $300,000 in Allocation Money from the LA Galaxy in exchange for the rights to former midfielder Perry Kitchen. As part of the deal, United will receive $100,000 in General Allocation Money and $200,000 in Targeted Allocation Money from the Galaxy.
