Howard 68, Morgan State 65: Marcel Boyd had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Kofi Andoh hit three of four free throws in the final 13 seconds and the 11th-seeded Bison (10-23) upset the third-seeded Bears (14-16) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference quarterfinal Thursday in Norfolk, Va.

The Bison (10-23) will play in the semifinals Friday against No. 2 seed Norfolk State, which won the only regular-season matchup between the teams, 73-65.


Tiwian Kendley had 17 points and Phillip Carr added 13 for the Bears (14-16).

UMES 68, Hampton 66: Tyler Jones scored 23 points, Logan McIntosh hit the game-winning layup with 12 seconds to go, and the No. 5 Hawks beat the No. 4 Pirates in the quarterfinals of the MEAC tournament.

The Hawks (14-19) move to the semifinals against top seed North Carolina Central on Friday.Hampton had two final shots, but Lawrence Cooks missed a 3-point attempt and Trevond Barnes missed the follow.


Hampton 66, UMES 56: The Pirates (18-12) used a 21-10 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Hawks (13-16) in a MEAC quarterfinal in Norfolk, Va.

Brianna Mack had 13 points and Alexus Hicks had 12 points for UMES.

Jephany Brown had 20 points for Hampton.
