Matt McMullen scored 18 points and had 15 rebounds as second-seeded Colgate rolled past seventh-seeded Navy, 72-62, in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League men's basketball tournament Thursday night in Hamilton, N.Y.

McMullen was 9-for-10 from the free-throw line, while Ethan Jacobs and Luke Roh each finished with 14 points. Alex Ramon had 13 points and Damon Sherman-Newsome chipped in 11 as the Raiders combined to shoot 52.5 percent from the field.


Colgate (16-16, 12-6) will face sixth-seeded American on Sunday.

Ramon made a 3-pointer and a layup on back-to-back plays for a 13-point Raiders lead with 11:02 remaining. The Midshipmen closed within six points with 1:22 left but got no closer.

Tilman Dunbar scored 17 points and Bryce Dulin added 16 for Navy (13-19, 8-10).

Delaware State 104, Coppin State 92: Amere May scored a season-high 40 points and Kendall Gray had 33 points and 30 rebounds, both career highs, to lead the Hornets (15-15, 9-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) past the host Eagles (7-22, 6-10).

May had 14 points and Gray 12 as Delaware State took a 34-29 lead at the half. Then the Hornets made 21 of 32 field goals (65.6 percent) and 24 of 33 free throws to score 70 points in the second half.

Christian Kessee had 15 of his career-high 24 in the second half for the Eagles, who made 21 of 42 shots, including seven 3-pointers, 13 of 18 free throws after the break. Kessee finished 9-for-11, including 4-for-5 on 3s.

Coppin State had 26 total rebounds to 51 for Delaware State.

Gray went 12-for-13 from the field and 9-for-16 from the foul line. May was 13-for-24 shooting, including 6-for-10 from 3-point range, and made all eight of his free throws.

UMES 89, Morgan State 76: Devin Martin scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures as the Hawks (18-13, 11-6 MEAC) completed the regular season with their most wins in 41 years.

Dominique Elliott added 15 points, Mike Myers had 13, Devon Walker 11 and Ryan Andino 10 for UMES, which hadn't won 18 games since going 27-2 in 1973-74.

Cedric Blooms had 17 points and Torin Childs-Harris added 15 for the Bears (7-23, 5-11).

Martin went 4-for-5 from the field, including his three 3-pointers, as the Hawks shot 51.7 percent to build a 42-29 lead.

Walker and Andino had two of their three 3s in the second half as UMES finished 9-for-17 behind the arc. With Issac Smith III hitting all five of his free throws, the Hawks were 14-for-17 at the line.



Morgan State 65, UMES 50: The Bears (11-18, 8-8 MEAC) controlled the tempo and led start to finish to beat the host Hawks (11-16, 8-8) in both teams' regular-season finale.

Braennan Farrar and Tracey Carrington (Dundalk) scored 30 and 22 points, respectively, to power the Bears' offense. Jessica Long had 17 points for UMES.

Coppin State 79, Delaware State 51: Bria Harris had 18 points to lead the host Eagles (6-21, 5-11 MEAC) past the Hornets (5-24, 3-16) in the regular-season finale.
