Loyola Maryland beat visiting Lafayette, 62-43, Wednesday night to pick up its largest margin of victory in Patriot League play.
The Greyhounds' 19-point win topped its previous record of 14 points, also against the Leopards, from January 13, 2014, while Loyola's defense held Lafayette to a season-low 43 points. The Greyhounds also held Dan Trist, the Patriot League's leading scorer, to one field goal and eight points.
Tyler Hubbard led Loyola (10-14, 6-7 Patriot League) with 14 points, while Franz Rassman tacked on 13 points and Andre Walker added nine to go with three assists.
Nick Lindner led the Leopards (14-10, 6-7) with 12 points.
Loyola next plays at Boston University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Stony Brook 73, UMBC 61: The visiting Seawolves (16-10, 7-4 America East) hit 16 of 26 shots in the second half to down the host Retrievers (3-21, 1-10).
UMBC's Cody Joyce (Southern) led the Retrievers with 24 points, scoring 20 or more for the third time this season. But Stony Brook's Carson Puriefoy led all scorers with 26 points, hitting 9 of 12 shots from the field.
Will Darley (Dulaney) returned for UMBC after missing 11 games due to injury and contributed 10 points in 21 minutes off the bench.
The first half featured a pair of big runs by each side. After the Retrievers took an early 10-8 advantage, Stony Brook went on a 17-2 run to take a 25-12 lead with 7:52 to play. But sparked by a pair of 3-pointers by Ben Grace (Gilman), UMBC outscored the visitors, 18-6 to end the half, including a driving layup by Darley with six seconds to play in the half. Stony Brook went into the break leading, 31-30.
Women
Lafayette 69, Loyola Maryland 63: Colleen Marshall had 17 points, but the visiting Greyhounds (6-18, 4-9 Patriot) dropped their fourth straight.
Emily Homan had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Leopards (12-12, 5-8), who ended a three-game losing streak.
Bucknell 51, Navy 50: The host Bison (15-9, 7-6) completed their season sweep of the Mids (13-11, 7-6).
Bucknell beat Navy, 44-42 in overtime, on Jan. 14.
New Jersey Institute of Technology 52, Morgan State 49: Tracey Carrington (Dundalk) had a game-high 21 points in a losing effort as the Bears (9-14) fell to the host Highlanders (10-15).
Stony Brook 74, UMBC 41: The host Seawolves (14-10, 7-4 America East) made 44.4 percent of its 3-pointers to beat the Retrievers (8-16, 3-8).
UMBC was led by 14 points, six rebounds and five assists from Taylor McCarley, but the Retrievers were unable to overcome Stony Brook shooting 66.7 percent from 3-point range in the opening half and building up a 22-point advantage in the first 20 minutes of play.
Tuesday's late women
No. 5 Maryland 80, No. 18 Rutgers 69: Lexie Brown scored 19 points to lead the Terps (22-2, 13-0 Big Ten) past the visiting Scarlet Knights (18-6, 9-4) for their fourth win in nine days.
