Jameel Warney and Brian Sekunda got Stony Brook off to a quick start and each scored 18 points in a 76-63 victory over host Loyola Maryland on Tuesday night.

Stony Brook (2-2) never trailed, taking a 9-2 lead after Sekunda scored five of his career-high 18 and Warney added four. A 16-5 run later in the half put the Seawolves ahead 37-22.


Warney grabbed 13 rebounds, including nine off the defensive glass, for his fourth straight double double to start the season. It's his 10th in a row dating from last season.

Andre Walker scored 19 points and Tyler Hubbard 15 for Loyola (1-4). Hubbard, fifth in the NCAA for 3-pointers per game (4.5), was held to one in seven attempts.

Stony Brook shot 52 percent (29-for-56) and made eight of 21 3-pointers while holding the Greyhounds to 23-for-58 (40 percent) from the field and 2-for-17 from deep.

Fairfield 113, UMES 74: Marcus Gilbert made five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 32 points, Tyler Nelson had 20 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, and the Stags (2-3) beat the host Hawks (0-4).

Gilbert added seven rebounds and Nelson made four of Fairfield's' 17 3-pointers.

The Stags went on a 14-0 run in the first half to push its lead to 28-12 and extended it to 35 points, 89-54, with eight minutes remaining.

Jerry Johnson added 19 points and five steals for Fairfield. The Stags made 57 percent of their shots, including 17 of 41 from 3-point range.

Fairfield's previous scoring high during Sydney Johnson's five years as coach was 85 points.

Devin Martin led UMES with 15 points and Dontae Caldwell added 13. The Hawks were held to 22-for-65 shooting (34percent), including 4-for-27 from distance.


Navy 73, Elon 70, 2OT: The visiting Phoenix (3-2) led by one with 49 seconds left in the second overtime, but the Mids (3-1) answered and went 6-for-8 from the free-throw line in the final 33 seconds.

Navy outscored Elon 19-16 in the second overtime.

Ashanti Kennedy scored a game-high 21 points for the Mids. Navy's Sarita Condi added 17 points, and Bianca Roach had 12.

Malaya Johnson led Elon with 15 points. The Phoenix committed 28 turnovers to Navy's 14.


Towson 61, UMBC 51: Raven Bankston scored a game-high 23 points to lead the host Tigers (1-3) past the Retrievers (2-3).

UMBC trailed by 15 in the third quarter before pulling within three on three occasions in the fourth quarter.

The Retrievers cut the lead to 50-47 with less than three minutes to play, but Towson closed the game out with an 11-4 run. Taylor McCarley led UMBC with 16 points.

Bucknell 71, Mount St. Mary's 45: The host Bison (4-1) used a 32-6 run that spanned parts of the second and third quarters to pull away from the Mount (1-3).

Bucknell won its third straight and is off to its best start since the 2000-01 season. Claire DeBoer had a game-high 19 points for the Bison. Jessica Harris led Mount St. Mary's with 10 points.

Harris went 4-for-7 from the field for her fourth straight game with double-digit points. Three other Mountaineers chipped in six points each.

The Mount took an 8-2 lead in the opening period, propelled by three points apiece from Sarafina Arthur-Williams and Harris.
