State basketball roundup (Dec. 5): Towson men win fifth straight, rout Sacred Heart

William Adala Moto scored 16 points and added 13 rebounds to help lead host Towson to an 83-61 win over Sacred Heart (1-6) on Saturday.

Walter Foster finished with 15 points and Timajh Parker-Rivera and Mike Morsell each added 11 for Towson (6-3), which has won five straight.


UMBC 70, Longwood 59: Rodney Elliott (John Carroll) scored 18 points, Cody Joyce added 16 on 7-of-12 shooting, and the visiting Retrievers (2-7) beat the Lancers (3-6).

Joe Sherburne had 15 points with three 3-pointers, Will Darley added 14 with four 3s, and UMBC (2-7) shot 52 percent from the field.

Hampton 74, Coppin State 71, OT: Reginald Johnson Jr. scored 22 points, Quinton Chievous added 21 and 10 rebounds, and the visiting Pirates (4-3, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) beat the Eagles (2-5, 0-1).

Coppin State scored the first four points in overtime to take a 71-67 lead. But Hampton closed with a 7-0 run.

Josh Treadwell led Coppin State with 22 points. Trevan Seymore added 15 for the Eagles.

North Carolina Central 70, UMES 59: Dajuan Graff scored 21 points, 17 in the second half, as the Eagles (3-4, 1-0 MEAC) rolled over the Hawks (1-6, 0-1).

North Carolina Central extended its home-court winning streak to 38 games.
