Shane Walker powers Loyola to 65-54 win over Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG — Shane Walker scored 20 points and Loyola defeated Mount St. Mary's 65-54 on Saturday for its eighth win in a row.

Mount St. Mary's leads the series, which is the oldest basketball rivalry in the state of Maryland, 96-71 but Loyola has won the past two meetings.

Robert Olson added 19 points and Dylon Cormier had 15 for the Greyhounds (8-1).

Loyola shot twice as many free throws as Mount St. Mary's, 32-16, and Walker made 10 of 13. Olson hit a 3-pointer to give the Greyhounds their biggest lead at 56-44 with 3:23 remaining and the Mountaineers could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Julian Norfleet scored 23 points and Kristijan Krajina added 10 for the Mountaineers (1-8), who have lost seven in a row. Mount St. Mary's has been held to fewer than 57 points in six games this season.
