Mills among many Bears expected to sit vs. Browns

Right tackle Jordan Mills is one of many Bears expected to sit out the preseason finale against the Browns

CLEVELAND -- Jordan Mills is expected to sit out the Bears' exhibition finale against the Browns on Thursday night along with most of the other first-stringers. That means the second-year right tackle will finish the preseason without playing an exhibition game. He missed the first three with a sore left foot.

Mills was one of many players on the field during pregame warm-ups who were in game uniform but did not have a helmet and were not wearing shoulder pads. The Bears would not confirm which players are not playing.

Several second-stringers also are expected to sit out, which bodes well for their respective roster hopes ahead of Saturday's 3 p.m. deadline to set the final 53-man roster.

Fourth-round rookie running back Ka'Deem Carey, receivers Josh Morgan and Micheal Spurlock and defensive end Trevor Scott were in game uniform during pregame warm-ups but did not have a helmet or shoulder pads.

Among the Bears not exepcted to play include the entire first-string offense; defensive ends Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston and Willie Young; defensive tackles Jeremiah Ratliff, Stephen Paea, and rookies Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton; and linebackers Lance Briggs, Jon Bostic, D.J. Williams and Shea McClellin
