Varsity roundup: Severna Park wins 3rd in row in field hockey

It should come as no surprise that a South River-Severna Park field hockey game ended with a one-goal difference.

What is surprising is how the No. 5 Falcons (10-2) were able to carry the play for most of the game in their 2-1 victory over the No. 4 Seahawks (8-3) on Tuesday at Kinder Farm Park.

Cassy Zachares and Lauren Duvall scored second-half goals for Severna Park, which erased a 1-0 halftime deficit by taking 11 shots in the second half and won its third straight game since losses to the Seahawks and Cape Henlopen (Del.) in late September.

No. 3 Garrison Forest 2, North Harford 0: Natalie Adamez had a goal and an assist to lead the Grizzlies (10-0-1) past the Hawks (6-6).

Adamez gave Garrison Forest a 1-0 halftime lead scoring on a corner, assisted by Allie DiPietro. In the second half, she assisted on Kara Frazier's goal.

No. 14 Marriotts Ridge 1, Centennial 0: Allie McAulley scored the game-winner to lift the Mustangs (11-2) over the host Eagles (5-7).

Marriotts Ridge's Miranda Alam had three saves in her seventh shutout.

No. 2 River Hill 2, Hammond 0: Mike Faderin and Luke Turney each scored to lead the visiting Hawks (11-0) past the Bears (1-9).

No. 4 Broadneck 3, Glen Burnie 0: Nate Watkins scored twice and Tyler Gabara once to power the host Bruins (9-1-1) past the Gophers (1-8).

No. 9 Severna Park 2, South River 0: Daniel Kwon was kept off the score sheet against Broadneck on Thursday, a rarity, and the Falcons were defeated for the first time in 27 games.

Kwon made sure that did not happen again,  as he scored two second-half goals, his ninth and 10th of the year, to propel the Falcons (8-1-1) past the Seahawks (7-2-1).
