Varsity roundup: Mount St. Joe routs Calvert Hall in Alhambra

The fourth meeting between the No. 2 Mount St. Joseph and No. 3 Calvert Hall basketball teams wasn't even close.

The Gaels (34-5) set a tournament record of 30 3-pointers and rolled to a 99-66 victory over the Cardinals (29-8) on Saturday night in the consolation game of the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament at Frostburg State. Mount St. Joe's Phil Booth had a career-best 37 points, and Jaylen Adams had 23 points.

Boys lacrosse

Malvern Prep (Pa.) 8, Loyola 5: The visiting Friars (1-0) scored six unanswered goals and the host Dons (1-2) never caught up.

Malvern Prep won the game on both ends of the field with good ball movement on offense and full-field pressure on defense. The second goal of the Friars' 3-0 run in the first quarter was off a back-to-front pass from Adam Goldner to Kyle Anderson with 4:06 left.

Malvern won the first five loose balls of the game.

Loyola was held scoreless in the first half before getting three goals over the final 1:56 of the third quarter.

Both teams had two-goal performances from a pair of players: the Friars' Anderson and Kevin McGeary and the Dons' Ryan Conrad and Graham Lorber.

Boys' Latin 14, Lake Highland (Fla.) 11: Shack Stanwick had two goals and three assists to lead the Lakers (1-0) past the host Highlanders (7-2).

Calvert Hall 9, Collegiate School (Va.) 6: Timmy Kelly came through for the host Cardinals (4-0) again with one goal and three assists against the Cougars (0-1).

McDonogh 11, Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 4: Trey McGee had two goals and two assists to power the host Eagles (3-0) past the Churchmen (0-1).

Mount St. Joseph 8, St. Anne's-Belfield (Va.) 4: Clay Kirby and Tyler Snyder scored twice as the host Gaels (3-0) beat the Saints (1-2).
