The week ahead for Maryland's men's teams

NO. 3 MARYLAND (3-0)

Coming up: vs. No. 1 Duke, Saturday, noon, Byrd Stadium

Comment: The Terps have won 61 of 81 meetings, including seven of the past nine. Junior faceoff specialist Charlie Raffa's two-goal performance in Saturday's 16-8 rout of then-No. 2 Syracuse was the first multi-goal outing of his career.

Coming up: at No. 6 Princeton, Saturday, noon; at Mount St.Mary's, Tuesday, 4 p.m.

Comment: The Blue Jays are 55-28 in the series but 1-4 in the past five.

Coming up: at No. 17 Lehigh, Saturday, noon

Comment: The Greyhounds have won all seven games, but these new rivals in the Patriot League haven't met since April 15, 1998. Senior attackman Brian Schultz had career highs in goals (three), assists (four) and points (seven) in Saturday's 16-4 victory over Holy Cross.

NO. 19 TOWSON (2-2)

Coming up: vs. Mount St. Mary's, Saturday, 1 p.m., Johnny Unitas Stadium

Comment: The Tigers hold an 8-1 advantage over the Mountaineers and have won the past seven meetings. Sophomore midfielder Ben McCarty (South Carroll) scored in Saturday's 8-7 decision over Georgetown — his first game since returning from an undisclosed injury.

Coming up: at No. 19 Towson, Saturday, 1 p.m.; vs. No. 9 Johns Hopkins, Tuesday, 4 p.m., Waldron Family Stadium

Comment: The Mountaineers have lost all four meetings with the Jays. Midfielders Mike Fields and Evan Gormley each scored twice — their first career goals — in Tuesday's 14-6 loss to No. 8 Virginia.

NAVY (1-2)

Coming up: vs. Holy Cross, Saturday, 11 a.m., Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

Comment: The Midshipmen enjoy a 9-1 advantage in the series, but the Crusaders' lone victory came last season.

UMBC (1-1)

Coming up: vs. Richmond, Saturday, 1 p.m., Retrievers Stadium

Comment: A week after tangling with Monmouth for the first time, the Retrievers meet another first-time opponent in the Spiders. Freshman goalkeeper Connor Gordon has made 10 saves in the first half of each game thus far.
