State hoops: Morgan State men falter late on road, 59-56

Justin Black's game-high 21 points weren't enough for Morgan State as the visiting Bears (11-14, 9-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) fell, 59-56, to Delaware State (9-18, 5-9).

The Bears shot 39.2 percent from the field in the loss.

Hampton 104, UMES 89: The Hawks (4-21, 2-10 MEAC) led by two at halftime but allowed the Pirates (15-11, 10-3) to score 62 points in the second half of a home loss.

Hood 85, Albright 79: Six Blazers (17-9) scored in double digits in their home win over the Lions (13-13) in a first-round Commonwealth Conference tournament matchup. Hood, which was led by guard Justin Bowen's team-high 19 points, will face top-seeded Stevenson on Wednesday in the tournament semifinals.


Hampton 90, UMES 62: The Hawks (7-18, 3-10 MEAC) shot 21.6 percent from the field in the loss to the visiting Pirates (23-4, 13-0).

Morgan State 65, Delaware State 54: Tracey Carrington (Dundalk) scored 20 points as the Bears (4-22, 2-11 MEAC) beat the host Hornets (7-19, 2-12).

Mount St. Mary's 97, St. Francis (Pa.): The Mountaineers (17-11, 12-4 Northeast Conference) topped the visiting Red Flash (11-16, 9-7) for the first time in nine tries. Guard Sydney Henderson scored a game-high 25 points for Mount St. MAry's

Stevenson 68, Lycoming 54: Four Mustangs (14-12) scored in double digits in a Commonwealth Conference tournament first-round win over the Warriors (13-12).
