Zach Abey

Archbishop Spalding, quarterback, senior

Abey, 6 feet 2, 205 pounds, has the arm of a drop-back quarterback and the running ability of a triple-option threat. He ran 121 times last fall for 785 yards and completed 50 of 105 passes. Committed to Buffalo, he also had 36 tackles at safety.

Coleman Blackston

Dunbar, running back, senior

In the Poets’ two state playoff wins last season, the 5-9, 190-pound running back single-handedly gained as much or more yardage than the opposition’s entire team. He was an All-Metro second-team selection after rushing for 1,781 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns.

Jared Cohen

McDonogh, offensive lineman, senior

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound tackle, who is committed to Maryland, was an All-Metro second-team pick last fall. Cohen, who put on 20 to 30 pounds before his junior year, bench presses 375 pounds. A great pass blocker with excellent technique, he will anchor a strong offensive line.

William Crest

Dunbar, quarterback, senior

In leading the Poets to their third straight state title, Crest, 6-2, 210 pounds, threw for more than 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns. He threw for two touchdowns in Dunbar’s 39-0 win in the Class 1A state final. Crest, a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com, has committed to West Virginia.

Ryan Hursey

Westminster, wide receiver, senior

The lone returnee among the top five receivers in an offense that accumulated more than 4,000 passing yards en route to the Class 4A state semifinal last year, the 6-foot-4,180-pound Hursey should be a prime target this fall. He had 17 catches for 167 yards and six touchdowns as a junior.

Demetrius Johnson

Annapolis Area Christian, wide receiver, senior

At 6-2, 205 pounds, Johnson combines the size and skill to be a formidable challenge for opposing defensive backs. The only question is whether the Eagles will have a quarterback who can get him the ball. A Rivals.com four-star prospect, he doubles as a defensive back.

Colar Kuhns

Calvert Hall, quarterback, senior

Last fall, Kuhns, 6-2, 210 pounds, threw for more than 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns, but the last one was the best — a last-minute, 83-yard scoring strike to beat Loyola, 21-14, in the Turkey Bowl. With his arm and a year of experience, he should pick up where he left off.

Kai Locksley

Gilman, quarterback, junior

The son of Maryland offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, the 6-5, 200-pounder brings a more fleet-footed, agile style to the position than 2012 All-Metro quarterback Shane Cockerille. Locksley also has a good arm, but look for him to carry on the Greyhounds’ usual running offense.

Nevone McCrimmon

Mount St. Joseph, running back, junior

An All-Metro second-team selection last fall, McCrimmon led the MIAA A Conference in rushing with 1,382 yards on 250 carries for 10 touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Gaels standout also had 11 receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns. He has an offer from Wake Forest.

Russell Neverdon

Calvert Hall, athlete, senior

Neverdon does a little bit of everything for the Cardinals. Last season, he accumulated more than 600 yards while running, receiving and returning kicks and punts. The 5-8, 170-pound speedster, who is being recruited as a slot receiver, may also see time at defensive back.
