Gold Cup quarterfinals at M&T; Bank Stadium will be sold out, source says

The quarterfinal matchups of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup at M&T; Bank Stadium on Sunday will be sold out, a source said Friday.

A late surge among fans of the United States and El Salvador teams pushed sales from 15,000 last Sunday to an expected crowd of more than 71,000 for the game this weekend.

The interest in the game was partially attributed to the U.S. national men's soccer team's first appearance in Baltimore since 1997, but also due to the passion of the El Salvador team's fanbase, the source said.

After the United States and El Salvador meet in the 4 p.m. game, Costa Rica and Honduras will play in the second quarterfinal matchup. Officials for the Gold Cup are encouraging fans to arrive early at the stadium because of the games as well as Artscape happening in the city this weekend.
