Maryland's women's lacrosse team held on to the No. 1 spot in this week's Inside Lacrosse deBeer Media Poll, while Johns Hopkins moved within a spot of the Top 10.
Coming off Sunday's 16-11 win over Hofstra -- the second of three games in five days for the Terps -- Maryland improved to 5-0 to keep ahead of No. 2 Florida, which is 7-0 after its 14-10 win over Syracuse on Saturday.
The Orange (2-2) dropped from No. 5 to No. 7 in a shuffle with Duke and Notre Dame, who moved up one spot each to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Loyola, No. 9 last week, dropped to No. 12 after falling to 2-2. Johns Hopkins' 11-8 win over the Greyhounds on Wednesday -- their first ever win over Loyola -- vaulted the Blue Jays (4-0) from No. 14 to No. 11.
Navy (6-0) also made a big move from No. 19 to No. 15, while Towson remained No. 16.
All five local ranked teams face stiff competition in the next week. No. 4 and defending national champion Northwestern visits Johns Hopkins on Saturday and Navy on Monday.
After hosting UMBC on Tuesday night, Maryland will host Penn State on Saturday. The Nittany Lions broke into the Top 10 with Sunday's 15-14 win at Virginia. Towson will host Syracuse on Saturday, while Loyola plays at Florida on Tuesday.
