TWO-MINUTE SUCCESS The final portion of the Ravens' practice involved the 2-minute drill. From their own 32-yard line, quarterback Joe Flacco and the offense marched 68 yards, capping the drive with a pass from Flacco to wide receiver Tandon Doss, who scampered 21 yards to the end zone. Coach John Harbaugh immediately signaled the end of practice after the score.
MCCLAIN MOVING Jameel McClain continues to impress in his third full season as the starting inside linebacker. He got to quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the backfield and then added an interception when a Taylor pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage and fell into his hands.
GOOD HANDS When Taylor threw a pass that was a little too hot for tight end Davon Drew, it appeared that the ball might be ripe for an interception. But rookie tight end Bruce Figgins, who was a couple yards behind Drew, was opportunistic enough to snatch the ball out of the air.
STANDOUT PERFORMER This may sound like a broken record, but wide receiver Jacoby Jones has done well thus far. He and Flacco connected on a deep post. Several snaps later, Jones ran a comeback route and grabbed a pass from Flacco that would have yielded another first down.
NEWCOMER WATCH Wide receiver Dorian Graham recorded the longest play from scrimmage when the rookie ran a corner route to the right pylon of the end zone. Quarterback Curtis Painter lofted a pass that dropped perfectly between cornerback Lardarius Webb and strong safety Bernard Pollard and into Graham's hands for the touchdown.
INJURIES Wide receivers Torrey Smith (sprained ankle) and Devin Goda (undisclosed) and inside linebacker Darryl Blackstock (groin) returned. Blackstock took part in his first practice since injuring his groin Aug. 4 at M&T; Bank Stadium. Defensive end Pernell McPhee (undisclosed) and special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg (family matters) were absent. Tight end Dennis Pitta (broken right hand) and inside linebacker Josh Bynes (cracked vertebrae) did not practice for the 13th straight day. Tight end Ed Dickson (sprained right shoulder) and defensive tackle Ryan McBean (broken left ankle) missed their sixth consecutive day. Offensive tackle Jah Reid (strained calf) also did not participate. Wide receiver/return specialist David Reed (knee surgery) is still on the physically-unable-to-perform list. Outside linebacker Terrell Suggs (torn right Achilles tendon) is on the non-football injury list.
OVERHEARD "Torrey, how do you feel about holding the bus up?" — Free safety Ed Reed interrupting wide receiver Torrey Smith conducting an interview with reporters after practice. Reed's comment immediately prompted Smith to end the session and hustle to a bus waiting to take players back to the team's headquarters in Owings Mills.
