O'Connor's 5 perfect innings help Howard beat Centennial

Howard softball pitcher Samantha O'Connor faced only 15 batters because of the mercy rule, but she was perfect as the visiting Lions beat Centennial on Wednesday, 15-0.

O'Connor had six strikeouts and Julianna Natoli was a home run short of the cycle.

No. 2 Glen Burnie 12, Old Mill 2: Melanie Slowinski (2-for-3) had a triple, a home run and three RBIs to power the host Gophers (4-0) past the Patriots.

No. 6 C. Milton Wright 8, Perryville 2: Kayleigh Allender had a two-run homer and Jessica Canami went 4-for-4 to lead the Mustangs (3-1) past the Panthers.

Lansdowne 4, Loch Raven 0: Winner Maude McCourry gave up two hits in a shutout for the host Vikings (4-1). She also had the only extra-base bit, a triple.


No. 7 Northeast 10, Meade 5: Joe Rivera and Dillon Atkinson each drove in two runs and Stephen Greis got the win for the host Eagles (2-1).

No. 11 Liberty 4, Francis Scott Key 3, 9 innings: Ben Warren hit a leadoff double in the ninth and scored the winning run for the host Lions (4-0).

No. 13 C. Milton Wright 7, No. 10 Patterson Mill 1: Right-hander Stephen Rappe (2-0) struck out seven, but his no-hit bid was spoiled by a hit and a run in the seventh inning.

No. 14 Franklin 11, Owings Mills 0: Matt Goodman got the win and Eric Proper pitched two innings of relief in the shutout for the host Indians (4-0). Tahjee Briggs went 3-for-3 with a double for Franklin.

No. 15 Reservoir 3, Hammond 0: Right-hander Bryan Davidson (1-0) earned the shutout for the visiting Gators (2-1).

Hereford 17, Chesapeake-BC 0: Right-hander Jacob Covington (1-0) worked three innings, striking out three in the shutout for the host Bulls (4-0).

Kenwood 14, Patapsco 1: Right-hander Anthony Pelekakis (2-0) struck out six for the host Bluebirds (3-0).

Boys lacrosse

New Town 13, Carver A&T 2: Midfielders Chris Gilbert and Rayshawn Clark each scored four goals for the host Titans (2-0).

No. 2 Bryn Mawr 15, Garrison Forest 3: Kassandra Bowling and Kate Snouffer each scored a game-high four goals to power the host Mawrtians (2-0).

No. 14 St. Paul's 10, No. 5 John Carroll 6: Twins Brooke and Kelly Boyd each had a hat trick as the host Gators (1-1) upset the Patriots (1-2).

No. 7 Maryvale 16, No. 12 Severn 13: Amanda Bochniak had a hat trick and Sam Aiello had two goals and three assists to push the Lions (3-1) past the Admirals (2-2).
