Salisbury's Fleetwood is Coach of the Year

Salisbury baseball coach Doug Fleetwood has been named the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches College Coach of the Year. Fleetwood guided the Sea Gulls to the third NCAA Division III College World Series in school history and a 34-14 record. Fleetwood also earned College Coach of the Year honors from the MSABC after the 2001 season. Frostburg State pitcher Greg Ross will receive the organization's honor for Amateur Player of the Year. The awards will be presented at the MSABC banquet on Feb. 18 at Camden Yards beginning at 7p.m. Tickets are $65 and are available at msabc.ticketleap.com/2011-msabc-banquet.

Pro basketball: Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League commissioner Brian Graham announced that the Center Court All-Stars, who were based in the Washington area, have folded. As a result, the Shuckers (3-3) will host the Beltway Bombers (3-3) instead of the Manhattan Pride on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Annapolis Area Christian School's Kilby Center.

Mystics: The team signed free-agent center Michelle Snow. A 10-year veteran, Snow has averaged 9.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 334 career games with the Houston Comets, Atlanta Dream, San Antonio Silver Stars and most recently, the Chicago Sky.

Golf: Danny Balin of Rockville will face qualifying medalist Ryan Garrity of Jupiter, Fla., at 7:30 this morning in the PGA Match Play Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Balin won the PGA Stroke Play Championship on the adjacent Wanamaker Course last week. The winners this morning play for the title later in the day. The new champion will earn $4,000, the runner-up $2,125, from the $25,625 purse. Balin has a chance to become the seventh player to win the stroke-play and match-play titles in the same season.
