Despite facing what will likely be a limited scholarship situation for the 2013 recruiting class, the Maryland basketball staff continues to evaluate a wide range of junior prospects. The latest name to add to the list: Stanford Robinson of Paul VI (Va.).

Robinson, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard, received a visit this week from Terps coach Mark Turgeon, who watched him practice on Monday. Last week assistant Dalonte Hill had attended one of Robinson’s games.

“They haven’t offered yet but the head coach was out here," Robinson said. "I talked to [Hill] also. I saw them play some against N.C. State. I think they’ve got a good team and some nice pieces to be good in the coming years."

Robinson has no lack of suitors. He lists offers from a bevy of high-majors – among them, Virginia, Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Villanova, Marquette, Pitt, Miami, Rutgers and Xavier. He’s visited Miami, ‘Nova, N.C. State and Virginia Tech and attended a game at Maryland last year.

“It’s a good program. I haven’t talked much to them, but I know the head coach has talked to my coach,” he said.

Robinson, who doesn’t plan to commit until his senior year, considers himself a combo guard who’ll play some point in college. He’s averaging 15 points for 10-3 Paul VI.

“I’m a defensive player and I can get to the rim. I’ve got a mid-range game and I can shoot the 3. I like to get the ball to my teammates,” he said.

Robinson said he hopes to hear more from the staff and will be taking a closer look now that the staff is eyeing him. He’d like to receive an offer but said that hasn’t been discussed yet.
