Cardinals fan? Neverdon's your man

Ever since a certain senior running back arrived at Calvert Hall three years ago, he’s heard all about how he has the perfect last name for a Cardinals’ football player, especially at this time of year.

It couldn't be better to be Brandon Neverdon as Thanksgiving Day’s Turkey Bowl against the archival Dons approaches.

“I get it all the time,” Neverdon said with a laugh. “My freshman year in class, all the kids were messing around with me: ‘Never a Don.’ Ever since then, I’ve heard all about it.”

Neverdon admits he looked at Loyola if only briefly before attending Calvert Hall. He never thought about the name game back then. Although his name did not determine his destiny as a Cardinal, it adds a unique element to his Calvert Hall football experience.

“I like it. I like the attention,” Neverdon said. “It’s a unique name. With the tradition, it brings more fight into it.”

The Neverdon legacy will live on in Calvert Hall football once Brandon graduates, because his cousin Russell Neverdon is a sophomore, who has moved up for the Turkey Bowl.
