Who owns the hat?

As Preakness post time approached, some people in the infield had fallen asleep. Others were more feisty.

An inebriated young man approached Ally Reid of Arlington, claiming that she had stolen his girlfriend’s hat.

She explained that she was waiting in a line when someone put the hat on her head. The man tried to pick a fight with a guy nearby — a guy who was nearly a foot taller, twice his weight and all muscle. But Ryan Ellis would have none of it.

“People out here, they drink alcohol and get intoxicated and fight. Why can‘t we just be friends?” Ellis said.

The girl got her hat back.
