Scouting report: IAAM A Conference girls lacrosse championship

No. 1 McDonogh (18-0) vs. No. 5 Roland Park (14-5)

When: Saturday, 3 p.m.

Where: Gerstell Academy, Finksburg

Key players to watch:

McDonogh: Jen Cook, Sr., A; Taylor Cummings, Jr., M; Brooks Lawler, Sr.; Casey Pepperman, Sr., D; Liz Bannantine, Jr. M; Corinne Etchison, Jr., A.

Roland Park: Caroline Seats, Sr., M; Daniela Epler, Sr., D; Audrey Todd, Jr., M; Betsy Angel, Jr., A; Mattie Meredith, Sr., A; Meggie Ramzy, Sr., M.

Outlook: The Eagles come into the title game with plenty of momentum as the two-time defending champions riding a 50-game winning streak. The Reds, however, pushed McDonogh to 16-14 in their A Conference opener back in March, so they know something about handling the Eagles' swarming double teams. The Eagles averaged a 10-goal margin of victory this season and only two teams came within less than five points. McDonogh wears down most opponents with its depth and that likely was a factor in their 12-7 win over No. 11 Notre Dame Prep in the semifinal. The Eagles have seven offensive weapons on every play and they have one of the best on the draw in top scorer Cummings (55 goals, 14 assists). The Reds, who upset No. 2 Bryn Mawr 12-11 in the semifinals, also have a balanced attack and a strong midfield leader in Seats.
