Roundup: No. 1 McDonogh tops No. 10 Loyola, 11-8, in boys lax

Top-ranked McDonogh racked up another win against a top-10 A Conference opponent in preparation for its bout at No. 2 Calvert Hall for the top seed in next week's Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament.

The host Eagles (14-2, 10-1) outscored No. 10 Loyola (6-10, 4-7), 5-2, in the third quarter and won 11-8, on Tuesday.

Keegan Michel finished with a hat trick for McDonogh, which eliminated Loyola from the playoffs. St. Paul's claimed the third spot in the Black Division, and Gilman and St. Mary's, both 7-4, are vying for the top spot in the Red Division with Boys' Latin taking third with a 5-6 record.

No. 2 Calvert Hall 12, Severn 3: Ryan Brown led the host Cardinals (14-1, 10-1) with a hat trick. Calvert Hall jumped out to a 6-1 lead over the Admirals and next host No. 1 McDonogh on Thursday at 4 p.m.

No. 4 St. Paul's 12, Mount St. Joseph 3: Jay Carlson scored three goals, and the visiting Crusaders (13-5, 7-4) opened with a 3-0 run and beat the Gales (3-12, 0-11).

Baseball

No. 4 Westminster 8, Manchester Valley 3: The Owls finsihed a perfect 13-0 in the league to claim the Chesapeake Conference in the Monacacy Valley Athletic League. Chad Diehl (5-0) got the win, and Brandon Nelson went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Westminster.
