Keys to victory
The host Cardinals are the biggest surprise so far in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference going into their game Friday at Severn as the only undefeated team left in the league. Despite losing seven starters and having only six seniors on the roster, Calvert Hall has a handful of talented underclassmen feeling right at home in starting roles. Juniors Patrick Kelly and Brown lead a dangerous attack, while Stephen Kelly anchors the middle. Boys' Latin will present the Cardinals with their biggest test to date, and the No. 1 concern for the home team will be shutting down All-Metro senior attackman Stanwick, who leads the Lakers with 28 goals and 21 assists. Stothoff, Kiddy and Dempsey have been sturdy at midfield, and the Lakers might get a lift from the return of standout Jeff Chase, who has been sidelined with a sore knee.
