Keys to victory
The Eagles have had the upper hand in this rivalry with six straight victories since Notre Dame Prep spoiled their prospects for a perfect season in 2006. The two met in the past two IAAM A Conference finals, and McDonogh took both. Last year's regular-season game was close, with McDonogh running up a seven-goal lead and the Blazers rallying but falling just short, 12-11. The Eagles polished off a perfect season with a decisive 17-8 win in the tournament finale. Once again, the Eagles boast a balanced attack with plenty of speed and firepower. This will be only the second game of the season for both teams, and the Blazers likely cannot reload as quickly as the Eagles, who run multiple midfields and have veterans waiting to take over most starting spots. Stanwick, NDP's offensive quarterback, will have to find holes in the Eagles' defense, and the Blazers likely will need at least double digits on the scoreboard because it will be tough for the NDP defense to contain the multitude of Eagles threats.
