Girls Athlete of the Week // Tracey Carrington, Dundalk, basketball

A second-team All-Metro guard last season, the 5-foot-8 senior scored 77 points and had 41 rebounds while helping keep her team in contention for Baltimore County's Class 2A-1A Division title. Last week, she led the Owls to wins over New Town and Carver A&T, and then had 34 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks in a 52-47 double-overtime loss to Loch Raven. For the week, she also totaled 10 blocks, 12 steals and 11 assists. Heading into Tuesday night's game, Carrington was averaging 25 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three blocks this winter and had scored 1,386 career points. She plays Amateur Athletic Union basketball for the Baltimore Stars and also played last summer for the Lady Shooting Stars. She is being recruited by South Carolina State and Towson, among others.
